Experience

Police K9 Training and Early Career:

  • Began working with police K9s in 1993.
  • At 15 years of age completed basic narcotics detection and basic patrol courses at Adlerhorst Int. LLC K9 Academy.


United States Army Service (1997-2004):

  • 1997: Joined the United States Army.
  • 2000: Deployed to Kosovo as an Infantry Fire Team Leader.
  • 2004: Deployed to Iraq as an Infantry Squad Leader.

K9 Explosive Detection Trainer at Adlerhorst Int. LLC (2005-2007):

  • Assisted with detection and basic patrol courses.
  • Worked with K9 handlers and law enforcement agencies across the country.

Innovative Explosive Detection Training (2007-2008):

  • Trained and instructed an innovative method of explosive detection for a large airport police department, still in use.
  • Conducted several K9 procurement trips to Europe.

Guest K9 Trainer for US Army’s Special Missions Unit (USASOC) (2008-2010):

  • Prepared dogs and handlers for the global war on terror.
  • Assisted in the training with the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team’s first K9 teams.
  • Assisted in the Training of United Kingdom Special Operations (SAS) first K9 teams.

  • Developed and instructed basic handler courses for Ranger and Special Forces battalions, as well as Canadian and German special operation forces.
  • Notably trained K9 “Cairo” and his handler, of Operation Neptune Spear, the mission that killed Osama bin Laden.

Full-Time Trainer for US Army’s Special Mission Counter-terror Unit (2011-2016):

  • Procured new dogs for assessment and training as Combat Assault Dogs (CAD).
  • Trained handlers in explosive detection, close-quarters battle tactics, and apprehension of hidden combatants.
  • Deployed with assault squadrons to Afghanistan and Iraq to maintain operational readiness of dogs and advise unit leadership on CAD capabilities.
  • Deployed multiple times to Northern Iraq and Syria to assist in the fight against ISIS.
  • Advised unit Judge Advocate General on CAD usage according to the Geneva Convention.

Return to Adlerhorst Int. LLC (2016-Present):

  • Assumed the role of President.
  • Currently travels to Europe six times a year to select dogs.
  • Lead instructor for the basic handler course.
  • Adlerhorst Int. LLC trains approximately seventy K9 teams annually from law enforcement agencies across the country.
